Fencing in Hanslope
Fencing for Hanslope's estates and village core, with conservation area boundary guidance and slow-draining clay both taken into account.
Closeboard timber fencing in Hanslope typically costs £80–£100 per metre supplied and fitted on concrete posts, while composite and aluminium slatted fencing starts from about £240 per metre fitted at 1.8m high, both as guide prices. Inside the conservation area, the review says close-boarded or panel fencing is normally resisted, so where your boundary sits decides the approach.

Fencing in Hanslope
Hanslope's centre around Church End, Market Square, The Green, High Street and Gold Street has 17th and 18th-century stone and thatch cottages alongside Georgian and Victorian brick, all beneath the spire of St James the Great, the tallest in Buckinghamshire. Around it are late 20th-century estates with ordinary rear gardens. Those estate gardens are where most of our fencing goes, while the old centre calls for a more careful conversation about boundaries before anything is ordered.
Our choice of fence is closeboard timber on concrete posts with gravel boards, or composite and aluminium slatted fencing on aluminium posts, with gates and screens to match. During the free design visit we check whether your address falls inside the conservation area, measure the runs and look at nearby trees and hedges that might affect where posts go. Removing the old panels is priced on that visit, and you then receive a fixed price in writing.
What makes Hanslope different
Boulder clay over Blisworth limestone means the top layer is usually clayey and slow to drain, and clay movement near trees has to be allowed for. Fence posts along a hedge or tree line are exactly where that movement shows, so we set them accordingly. Hanslope Conservation Area's review says boundaries are generally stone or brick walls and close-boarded or panel fencing is normally resisted. There is no Article 4 direction on unlisted houses, but listed buildings need consent.
A typical Hanslope job is a house on one of the late 20th-century estates with a rear garden enclosed by ageing panels, often with a hedge or tree on one side. We clear the run, set concrete posts allowing for nearby roots, fit gravel boards and closeboard, and hang a side gate. In the old centre, the work is more often a rear screen within an existing stone or brick wall.

Permissions and checks in Hanslope
- Step 1A fence, wall or gate is normally permitted development up to 2m high, or 1m where it sits next to a road or footpath used by vehicles. Listed buildings need consent, and some estates have planning conditions on front boundaries. Listed buildings and conservation areas in Hanslope have tighter rules, so we check your address before anything is designed. Planning Portal: fences, gates and walls
- Step 2Trees in a conservation area need six weeks’ written notice before any work, and trees with a Tree Preservation Order need consent — both are free. Milton Keynes City Council: tree protection
- Step 3We check the ground and the planning position at the free design visit and give you one fixed written price.

“Milton Keynes Driveways & Landscaping have just finished our full garden makeover in Milton Keynes. We had a porcelain patio, composite decking and raised sleeper beds. They arrived on time, kept my home clean and the garden looks terrific. They are coming back to do our block paved driveway soon.”
